FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is BravoPoints?
BravoPoints is a calm, parent-supervised points and rewards app for families. Parents create tasks and rewards; kids aged roughly 2–12 watch their points grow on their own dashboard and redeem them for family rewards like an extra bedtime story or choosing movie night. It works in any web browser — no app install needed.
How much does BravoPoints cost?
BravoPoints costs $2.49 CAD per month, or $19 CAD per year while founder spots last ($29 CAD per year after that — founders keep their price for life). Every family starts with a full-featured 90-day free trial with no credit card required. Referrals add free weeks for both families.
Is BravoPoints an allowance or debit card app?
No. BravoPoints uses points, not real money. Kids earn points for routines and redeem them for family rewards chosen by parents. If you want a debit card and real allowance for older kids, apps like Greenlight or Mydoh serve that need; BravoPoints is designed for the younger, points-and-rewards stage.
Do my kids need their own accounts or email addresses?
Never. Only parents have accounts. Children use a parent-created profile with a first name or nickname, through a PIN-protected Child View on a shared device. Kids never enter email addresses, passwords, or personal information.
Does BravoPoints show ads or track my family?
No ads, no third-party trackers, no selling data — ever. The site enforces this technically with a Content Security Policy that blocks third-party scripts. We collect only the minimum data needed to run the family reward system.
Is BravoPoints available in French?
Yes — BravoPoints is fully bilingual in English and Canadian French: the parent console, the child view, all emails, the checkout, and the legal pages. Your household’s language preference drives everything automatically.
What ages is BravoPoints for?
BravoPoints works best for kids aged about 2 to 12, and teens can use it too. One-click starter packs offer age-appropriate tasks and rewards for ages 2–4, 5–7, 8–11, and 12+, and everything can be customized.
Do I need to install an app from an app store?
No. BravoPoints runs in any modern browser, and on a phone it offers a one-tap install to your home screen (on Android a prompt appears automatically; on iPhone or iPad, tap Safari’s Share button, then “Add to Home Screen”). It then opens full-screen like a native app — no app store, no account with Apple or Google needed.
How do kids use it on a shared family tablet?
A parent switches the device into Child View, which is locked with a parent PIN. Kids can see their points, tasks, rewards, and history — but cannot reach parent settings, other children’s private history, or account controls without the PIN.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your family’s data is never held hostage. If your subscription ends, parent editing pauses, but child views and your full history stay readable, and you can re-subscribe or export your data any time.
Can both parents or co-parents use it? What about separated families?
Yes. A parent can invite a co-parent or caregiver, who signs in with their own Google or email account. For separated families, BravoPoints has a unique split feature: a parent can leave with a snapshot copy of the household so each home can run its own points system.
Does BravoPoints work for blended or reconstituted families?
Yes — this is one of BravoPoints’ signature strengths. When you invite a caregiver (a stepparent, grandparent, or new partner), you choose exactly which children they can see and manage; the other kids stay completely invisible to them. As far as we know, no other family chore app offers per-child caregiver access. Combined with the household split feature for separations, BravoPoints is built for families of every shape.
Is BravoPoints still actively maintained?
Very much so — it is built and updated continuously by a parent, with new features shipping most weeks. See the dated changelog at bravopoints.ca/whats-new. Bugs and ideas reported through the feedback form go straight to the maker.
How do referrals work?
Every household gets a personal referral link in the parent console. A family who joins through it gets 15 extra trial days, and you get 30 free days added to your account — with no limit.
Where is my family’s data stored, and can I delete it?
Data is stored on Cloudflare’s infrastructure over HTTPS, with access controls and audit logging. Parents can download their full family data any time from the parent console (Account → “Your family data”, as a spreadsheet or JSON file), and can request access, correction, or deletion through the privacy request form or privacy@bravopoints.ca.
